KinBat v1.0
KinBat v1.0 is a FREEWARE program that can be used to simulate the degree of conversion of up to six different components (A..F) simultaneously in three different reactor types. Some key features of the program are:
1. Type of reactor can be selected
-
Batch Reactor
-
CSTR
-
Semi Batch.
2. Feed type can be selected
-
Premixed feed
-
Separate feed
3. Easy implementation of various reaction types
-
uni-directional reactions
-
reversible reactions
-
autocatalytic reactions
-
parallel reactions
-
consecutive reactions
-
complex combination reactions
-
up to 11 different reactions may be implemented
3. Use of power law kinetics
-
Any reaction order >0 may be used
-
Orders do not have to be whole numbers
4. Calculation results
-
The concentrations of all participating components as a function of time.
-
The reaction volume as a function of time.
-
The volume flows as a function of time.
-
Component concentrations as a function of time can be exported to a file (data are tab delimited).
-
Component concentrations as a function of time can be imported directly into Excel by hitting a single button.
5. Assumptions
-
Isothermal operation
-
Constant density
One can choose between a Batch, a CISTR and a Semi Batch reactor.
If the batch reactor is selected the inlet and outlet flows will be set to zero and the reactor holdup wil be set to 100%
In case the CSTR is selected the inlet flow will have a constant value. The initial reactor holdup may be any value between 0 and 100%. When the reactor is filled completely the outlet flow will become equal to the total of all inlet flows.
In the case of a semi batch operation several options may be selected:
-
Stop feed when reactor is full.
-
Continue feed when full. When the reactor is filled completely the outlet flow will become equal to the total of all inlet flows. This option is equal to the CSTR operation.
-
End feed after specified time. When the reactor is filled completely the outlet flow will become equal to the total of all inlet flows.
